A non-profit cultural organization is the host of an annual festival that celebrates Asian culture through a 3-day event that features food vendors, entertainers, and sport competitions.

To get support from corporations and the government, they needed to build a compelling business case to demonstrate the event’s economic impact to the neighbourhood in the heart of GTA.


Through analyzing results from previous years, we found that surveys conducted in the past only had a hundred respondents, and was poorly versed. Thus, it was not strong enough to indicate the types of attendees and their spending behaviours. As a result, the economic impact study was not compelling enough to build a strong business case.


We designed a survey, both online & offline, to collect information about the 80,000 spectators that attended the 3-day event. We attracted participants to enter into a draw for a 50” Sony TV.

The survey included information on:

  • • Motives for attending
  • • Attitude towards supporters (corporate or government)
  • • Willingness to spend on different categories
  • • Demographic attributes
  • • Geographic distribution


We collected and analyzed 2,000 responses regarding demographic and behaviourial information to build a strong business case.

We presented findings to host organization, which was crucial to solicit corporate sponsorship and and government grants worth over $100k.
